v1.1.19: Streamed binary updates & installer resilience
October 14, 2026
Zero-overhead streamed binary downloads for low-RAM nodes, hardened systemd service transitions, and clean uninstaller teardowns.
Improved
- Streamed Agent Updates (
< 15MB RAM): Binary delivery during agent self-updates is now streamed directly to disk viaio.Copyinstead of buffering the entire payload in memory. This eliminates transient heap memory spikes on budget VPS droplets. - Hardened Installer Teardown: The one-command installer proactively halts running
tug-agentservice processes prior to replacing the binary, preventing LinuxETXTBSY("Text file busy") race conditions during reinstalls or manual updates. - Systemd Unit Teardown on Uninstall: The detached uninstaller script now removes
/etc/systemd/system/tug-agent.service, triggerssystemctl daemon-reload, and cleans up.nextupdate artifacts to leave zero footprint.
